Professor Frank van Tubergen was appointed as member of the Jonge Academie (Young Academy) of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Academie van Wetenschappen (KNAW; the Royal Dutch Academy of Science).

The Academy of Science appointed 10 young researchers in the age category of 25-45 years. They are selected on the criteria of scientific excellence, interdisciplinary approach, and a broad interest in science and science communication. The official inauguration will take place in the Trippenhuis office of the KNAW in Amsterdam on March 17, 2011.

Borja Martinovic earned her doctor’s degree on Friday September 10 after a public defense of her dissertation on ‘Inter-ethnic Contacts’ in the Academy Building of Utrecht University. She is the first graduate of MERM and the second graduate of the Graduate School of Social and Behavioral Sciences receiving the degree.
